Elias Amezaga

Press, editorial...

It's very difficult for Elías Amézaga to define his own work with precision. He describes what he would like his work to be as whole, yet multiple, inspired by more than just one cultural or literary style. Selecting a topic or character and studying it either in its own reality or in its own fantasy. Rehearsing a Happening, partly free style, partly direct. Two examples of this are Yo, Demonio which is a tetralogy containing a detailed study of the main character, and where the sanity of the conquest of America comes into question, along with the unpublished chronicles of the Marañones, the men under Lope de Aguirre's command. The other example is Jorge Sand, a trilogy encompassing a dictionary containing Sand's ideas extracted from her writings, her correspondence, and a dramatic piece inspired by her life.

Elías Amézaga also explores topics that are taboo, controversial characters, and historical situations which have yet to be resolved, seeking the hidden viewpoints, exploring the dark side, making way for intuition and conjecture as a means of recreating and discovering reality. His political essays are positioned at the center of battling contenders yet he maintains his objectivity at all times. He never rejects a topic, but merely explores it with curiosity from the moment it tickles his fancy. The very fact that he took on the challenge of creating a biographical bibliography encompassing over 12,000 writers entitled Autores Vascos, which is the culmination of over twenty five years of research.
